Gooseneck & Vang

The ScaleSailing Footy sized 'Gooseneck & Vang' bound on to a mast tube
on a 'Harpy'. The assembly can be attached to a mast in the usual way as an
upgrade replacement on a Kittwake or your own Footy.

Above are the contents of the Gooseneck & Vang set. Simple assembly
and clear instructions. The modified solid brass turnbuckle gives you easy
to adjust and precise control of your boom position and hence mainsail
twist which is a vital part of good sail tuning.

Keel Bulbs

After a few coats of primer and gloss you will have a smooth and streamlined
keel bulb. The ScaleSailing bulb halves are easy to work with.

The lead keel bulb is supplied as two
cast halves. The two castings are
epoxied either side of a wood core
at the base of the fin.
The gaps between the lead halves and
the wood core are filled with car body
filler.

Aim for a circular cross section and
build up a nice round nose and tail.
Wear a dust mask.

With just a little work you can get very
close to a circular cross section.

Always paint the bulb as soon as it is
fitted to the fin to reduce handling of
the bare metal.

In the latest kits the bulb halves come ready painted with primer on the outer surfaces. They are assembled and filled in the same way as shown above.
